| As part of continued investment in the University of South Wales' sports programme, a new dedicated facility was to be constructed at the grounds of Treforest, Pontypridd. The large construction, built by Kier Construction, has been designed to home the latest generation 3G indoor pitch, built to FIFA Pro standard and World Rugby 22 standard. Alongside the new pitch, a specialist centre was to be built specifically for strength and conditioning, including teaching rooms and changing rooms for the facility. In total the new building sits amongst an extra 9500 sq ft of land, a great addition to the University's already well-used facility. |

| Whilst the project was set to be managed and built by Kier Construction, SGD were approached by Blues Electrical in Cardiff to handle the fire and security measures at the new facility. After a thorough survey during a site visit, our team were able to produce a number of plans outlining an extension to their existing fire system, a specialist fire detection system and 30 camera surveillance system. |
Due to the open nature of the interior and roof height of the new building, our plans required the addition of a specialist solution to protect the property from fire risk. As a solution to the challenge, a high level air sampling fire detection system was specified for the project, able to deliver the earliest and most accurate smoke detection for this environment. Gent's Air Sampling System is renowned for detecting fires at a very early stage, often even before visible smouldering takes place. This early warning allows for fast response, evacuation and suppression where available. |
